Evaluating our DPD Experience

Hi everyone!

First of all, let us be congratulated on the event we planned to finish our course. It was definitely a self-growth experience and we all took something from it to make us reflect on our profession and our professional identity.

You all contributed to make it a successful event, on way or another. Teamwork was definitely a plus in this event.

Well done, everybody!

Now it is time to evaluate the course. I am going to ask you to please leave your comments on how to make of this course a better experience for future semesters.

Please evaluate the following aspects: content of the course,  the use of the blog as part of an outside and in-class activity;  and our motto on professional attitudes and professional actions. Leave your comments and suggestions on what you saw as a success and that which you think could be improved.
Thanks and see you in class on Wednesday, June 1st, 10 am, Posgrado!

First DPD Academic Event 2001

Hi everyone!  as previously planned...

TODAY IS THE BIG DAY!

La creación de las aves . Remedios Varo (1957)

At 9:00  am o´clock ( sharp!) we will start our Academic Event to close up the semester. I know how hard you have been working on making of this a professional high-rated event.   I am sure we all have learned about logistics, academic event planning, event organisation, finance, public relations, and above, all, professional development, as the central topic in our semester and over the past 16 weeks ...in our lives!

Needless to say, I hope everything goes as planned and if not, that we should all have a plan B ( ¡bajo la manga!) to make it happen.

I shall see you all  before 9 am . The table cloth is washed and hanging in the patio, ready to contribute to the event *wink*

Thanks for all your effort and let´s break a leg in our ever First DPD Academic Event of 2001!

Planning THE event!

Hi everyone! Today we will start planning our smashing event where we will be organisers, speakers, presenters and all!

This is what we will do today in class:

1. After reading the article on Professional identity, we will do a brainstorming session to get the themes to explore in the event.
2. Once the themes are selected , we will start planning the event in teams depending on the committee we decide to be.
3. The result of the class will be a complete perfect plan for the event. This planning should be shared in the blog for everyone to see.

See you in Posgrado soon!  Lupita

Looking professional...in other words, dressed to kill!

Today is a great day! It is a day to dress up, to look smart.
Today we will hold the panels on the subject of "Learning Theories and Teaching Methodologies". Our discussion will start off by discussing some of the issues you wrote about on the answer sheet  from the video "The Wall".

Panels will be formed by teams of students according to how you worked on the answer sheet last class. The panel will have some questions given by the audience , they should discuss and agree on the turns they will take answering those questions. The session for each panel will last 20 minutes max. The will talk for about 10 minutes and then the session will open for discussion for 10 more  minutes.

Here we go!   Look and sound professional.

We don´t need no education!

Hi, this is just one of the lines of the video we started watching last week.    Don´t you ever think it is my motto!

This Wednesday, we will watch the video The Wall by Pink Floyd. Along with that, there will be a worksheet passed around so you can answer some questions related to this video. At the end , a team discussion plus our FAMOUS PANEL of EXPERTS will be held.

Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (Waters) 3:56

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
"Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

Newly Revised Version of Professional Development Definitions

Hi everyone!

This new space is here for you to post the CORRECT FINAL VERSION of your definitions for  PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Only include the academic definitions; not your team definitions, this time.

Please remember that this contribution has to be mistake-free in order to get 100%  of your grade. A faulty contribution will give you a ZERO in your first partial grade for this semester, as it was agreed upon in class this week.

I shall include here the website where you can find the APA Style handbook
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/

All the best and see you next week!  Lupita
